On February 22, 2020, the 10th St. Petersburg School for the Diagnosis and Treatment of Atherosclerosis was held.
This event traditionally attracts the attention of leading specialists in the atherosclerosis of our country, as well as international specialists. Atherosclerosis is the most common cardiovascular disease and the main cause of myocardial infarction and cerebral stroke.
Medical expert of our company, MD and Head of the Department of Faculty Therapy of PetrSU Kuznetsova T. made a presentation on Problems of assessing cardiovascular risk at the present stage and whether machine learning help solves them.
The report presented a machine learning model developed in cooperation with specialists of our company: Igor Korsakov, an expert in data analysis, and Denis Gavrilov, the chief medical officer. This model is applicable for solving problems of assessing cardiovascular risk.
The model predicts the risk of developing atherosclerosis of the brachiocephalic arteries in overweight patients and generates recommendations to the doctor with an accuracy of 84% to prescribe an additional examination method: whether the ultrasound of the brachiocephalic arteries should be done.
Tatyana Kuznetsova noted the relevance of an accurate definition of cardiovascular risk, limitations and problems of its identification today and spoke about the global experience in developing models for determining cardiovascular risk.
